Did you know that the Grevelingenmeer is the largest saltwater lake in Western Europe? There are many ways to enjoy the lake and the surrounding area. Take a short walk along the dike between Den Osse and Brouwershaven. Climb the Ouddorp aan Zee lighthouse and look out over Lake Grevelingen and the North Sea. Spot grazing horses on the sandbar Dwars in the Weg. The Grevelingenmeer is perfect for relaxing or water sports.

Imagine yourself back in time with a ride on a historic tram from the RTM museum at Port Zélande. You can spend hours on the 17-kilometre-long sandy beach of Renesse. Get a breath of fresh air during a walk, build sandcastles with the kids or read a relaxing book in the warm sunshine. After a wonderful day on the beach, you can enjoy a snack and a drink at one of the many beach bars. Renesse beach has the international Blue Flag environmental award. The bathing water is of excellent quality and the beach is kept very clean.

How were children taught?
In this authentic school building from 1845, many generations enjoyed Burgh’s education. In the old classroom, on the playground and in the herb garden you go back in time a 100 years. Behind the showcases are several original attributes the students and teachers previously used during the lessons.

Have a great day out at Kinderboerderij De Punt
At Kinderboerderij De Punt can admire and pet all kinds of animals. There are a special hugging stables where you can cuddle with guinea pigs and rabbits. In need of a snack and a drink? You can make yourself comfortable in the lunchroom next to the petting zoo while the children play some more in the adjacent playground.

Museumhaven Zeeland is a museum at two locations. Outside, in the old medieval harbour of Zierikzee, you can view a beautiful fleet of ships up close. The indoor location offers ships that are being restored.

The Oosterschelde is the biggest and wettest national park of the Netherlands. It is a world of the tides, wind and especially water. Lots and lots of water. Hiking through this unique sea inlet can be combined with a ferry crossing in summer. The Streekpad 15 route is described clearly, including much background information to get to know the environment better.
