Discovering farm life on Ameland
Experience the ultimate outdoor living in the Ameland countryside. You'll be staying at farmer Douwe's farm. He has a sheep and horse farm, as well as a geese shelter. There are 6 luxury tents in a quiet place on the farm yard. Comfortable beds, a wood stove, a private shower and toilet: it has it all. There's no Wifi or electricity, so you really focus on each other. If your e-reader battery runs out, but you've just reached an exciting chapter, you can recharge at the farm shop. In the evening, you relax by candlelight under the starry sky. During the day, you can experience real farm life, or discover Dutch nature. This is a holiday with a touch of farm life.
Collect your own souvenirs
While staying on a Wadden Island, you're on the beach in no time. Not only is Hoeve Ameland 3 kilometres from the beach, it is also 3 kilometres from the woods. So you have all that nature, on your doorstep. Leave your car on the mainland and explore the island by bike or on foot. A visit to the lighthouse or the Maritime Centre is also recommended. A demonstration of the horse rescue boat will certainly impress all of you. And while you're on the beach, don't forget to collect some shells, and you'll have a nice souvenir to take home right away!
The ultimate feeling of freedom
When you get back to the farm after a lovely day, there is still plenty to experience there. The kids are allowed to help feed the chickens or sheep, and they can also play in the yard. In the meantime, you can enjoy the beautiful view over the dunes, dike and a vast meadow. You often see the sheep or horses grazing on the pasture. Dream away while enjoying the ultimate sense of freedom. That's all you need on holiday.

Discover the developments of Ameland
If one has lived on an island for centuries, like the inhabitants of Ameland, a culture of its own comes into existence. How this culture actually developed on the island of Ameland and how throughout centuries they lived together, can be seen at Culture Historic Museum “Sorgdrager”.
History of Ameland
Finding out about the history of life-saving services on Ameland is the central point here. Many rescue operations, often with danger to the rescuer’s own life, as well as limited means, are pictured here. Also the former horse rescue boat “Abraham Fock” is shown at the maritime centre. You can board the boat for a true experience.
9 holes in the heart of the Ameland nature
Golfing in the rolling Ameland dune landscape makes for the ideal combination of that holiday feeling while fitting in some healthy exercise. Between the holes you will enjoy beautiful views. Use the lighthouse as a target, and scour the area for a deer. Besides the 9 hole golf course, there is a PAR 3 golf course, where pitch & putt can also be played. The PAR 3 golf course is open to everyone. Perfect for getting acquainted with golf during your holiday.
