From exciting outdoor activities with the whole family to roaming around in the outdoors for hours without meeting another soul: at Hunzepark the choice is yours! The park's recreational pond offers plenty of options: fishing or canoeing for example. Those who prefer to stay on land have just as much to choose from: beach volleyball and table tennis. Drenthe is considered the ultimate hiking and cycling province in the Netherlands for good reason: go for a scenic bike ride with the park as your starting point, or head for the Drentsche Aa National Park and the Hart van Drenthe nature reserve. A hike along the megalithic 'hunebed' tombs in the region is also definitely worth your while. Price
For dogs and cats, you pay a surcharge per night. The final cleaning is mandatory if you bring a pet. This mandatory final cleaning is sometimes included in the price of your stay.
Bringing an assistance dog
Good to know: different rules apply for assistance dogs. If all the holiday homes where dogs are allowed, are fully booked, your assistance dog is also welcome in a pet-free holiday home. You do not have to pay the usual pet surcharge. To register an assistance dog, please contact our Guest Service.
Bringing your pet to the Netherlands
When travelling to another country, travel documents are mandatory. The same is true for dogs and cats. So, please make sure you bring your pet's European pet passport. On warmer days, you can take a refreshing dip in our heated outdoor pool. Dare to dive off the diving board, or swim a few leisurely laps. The swimming pool is lifeguarded by qualified staff and is open from the middle of May to the middle of September.
Access and opening hours
During your holiday, you are welcome whenever you like! The exact opening hours are available on the website and in the app. Prefer not to swim, but want to keep a close eye on what's going on? There is a sunbathing area next to the pool. You can enjoy the sunshine here while keeping an eye on the kids.
Hunzedal swimming pool
In winter when the outdoor pool is shut you can use the aqua paradise at Vakantiepark Hunzedal in Borger (15 minutes by car). The Hunzepark Reception Service point will provide you with an admission pass for your travel group. This will allow you to swim for free during your stay at Hunzedal.

A look at the lives of our ancestors
Did you know that Drenthe has been voted the proto-province of the Netherlands? Drenthe is home to dozens of prehistoric sites to discover. One of these sites is the Hunebed Centre, where you will travel 5,000 years back in time. On this journey, you will enter the mysterious world of our ancestors. Here every conceivable question about the ancient monolithic tombs known as hunebedden will be answered. A visit to Drenthe is only truly complete once you have seen the hunebeds and visited the Hunebed Centre.
Walking, cycling, horse riding: it's all possible in National Park Drentsche Aa. This diverse landscape was created during the ice age, thousands of years ago. Experience history among the vast heathlands, historic megalithic tombs and green forests.
The adventure begins!
You can imagine yourself in extraordinary worlds and go on expedition in WILDLANDS Adventure Zoo Emmen. Experience adventures amongst the elephants and monkeys in the tropical jungle, with the fur seals and polar bears in the icy Arctic or opt for a trip on the hot savannah. Quiet and relaxed or cool and exciting, everything is possible.
Visiting the bustling city
There is plenty to do in Groningen. Like going to the large market. There is a commodity market every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. You will also find lots of nice terraces, and you can go shopping in the compact city centre. You will also find the historic town hall and the famous Martini Tower, which is 97 meters tall. If you climb it, you can see nearly 30 kilometres in clear weather. In the heart of the Groningen city centre, lies the Forum. This is the meeting place for curious people. Exhibitions, films, various events, talk shows and much more take place here.
Good to know
The outdoor swimming pool is open from mid-May to mid-September, this can be changed due to weather conditions. During the months that the swimming pool is closed, from mid-September to early May, use can be made of the swimming pool of Vakantiepark Hunzedal in Borger. This park is a 15-minute drive away.
