On to the Alde Feanen Nature Park

Take a refreshing dip, cast your line or step onto the boat from your private jetty. This is the perfect holiday destination for water lovers! Step onto the boat, or rent one in the area. From the park you can sail to National Park de Alde Feanen to enjoy a day of peace and quiet, in the middle of nature. This area is known because it went from ice plain to tundra and swamp, and now it has become a real recreational area. Much has changed over the years, which makes the area very versatile.

Wooden Shoe Museum / Scherjon's Wooden Shoe Workshop, Noardburgum

The Clog Museum/Scherjon's Clog Workshop is now located where the center of northern clog making once was. The museum has a video presentation about the clog making craft.

Skutsjemuseum

The Skûtsjemuseum is located in the Stripe. In the smithy, sword-making workshop and sail-making workshop you will get an impression of the craftsmanship, techniques and materials needed to build a skûtsje.

Your holiday at Waterpark Zwartkruis

Enjoy your own jetty, with your feet in the water. A snack and a drink beside you. Later you could maybe cast your fishing rod. That is a real holiday. But you can get active too. Hire a boat and sail along the Bergumermeer lake. Or something a bit more sporty: explore the area with a canoe or surf in the Friesian wind. At Waterpark Zwartkruis you live temporarily on the water. And you enjoy yourself, like you should when you are on holiday. Drive to National Park De Alde Feanen in 25 minutes. Explore the park on foot or by bicycle. Or hire a canoe and have an adventure through the reed beds and the swamp forests. Do you want to get away from nature for a bit? For instance, you can go shopping and enjoy good food & drinks in Drachten or Leeuwarden. Or you keep it simple. You will also find lovely eateries and pubs in the villages around the park. With hospitable people who make you feel really welcome. Go back to your water bungalow in the evening. And enjoy the view across the water. It was another lovely day.
