Fancy a refreshing dip? From the park you can walk straight to the Schildmeer, one of the largest lakes in Groningen. Jump from the jetty into the water for a refreshing dive or sunbathe on the beach as the children swim and play.

Around the Schildmeer you will find several restaurants where you can enjoy a nice meal or a drink. After a day of swimming, sailing or cycling, sit down at one of the outdoor cafés and enjoy the panoramic views of the Schildmeer.
Kids
Even the youngest guests will not be bored for a moment. They can have fun on the challenging playground equipment or play on the sports field. At the Schildmeer, children can romp around for hours or build sandcastles on the sandy beach.
Sport and games
Time for action! Challenge each other to a game of table tennis or have fun on the sports field. Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the Duurswold golf course right next to the park. Explore the surrounding area on a bicycle, which you can rent at the park. In the summer, you can take a boat out on the water, rent a supercar or a canoe, or go fishing.

Your holiday at Villapark Schildmeer

People who love peace, space, nature and water sports will enjoy a wonderful holiday at Villapark Schildmeer. The park is situated beautifully between the many fields and picturesque villages of Midden-Groningen and is adjacent to the Schildmeer – one of the largest lakes of Groningen. Rent a sloop to sail the waters, or a sailing boat or surf board. Cast your rod and during the warmer days go for a picnic on one of the beaches.

The nature areas Tetjehorn and ’t Roegwold are in the vicinity. Here you can make beautiful walks and cycling tours through a varied landscape of grasslands, woods and reed marshes. Golf course Duurswold is adjacent to the park and offers a challenging course for both beginners and advanced players. Also lovers of culture have a wide choice in the surroundings: what about visiting the hanging kitchens of Appingedam, the Martinitoren, the Groninger Museum or fortress towns like Bourtange and Delfzijl? You will see: nothing beats Groningen!
